Under the effect of slow economy and inflation, the goverment is gradually opening its import. It declared to the domestic supermarkets that the import of foods, toys and textiles will increase by 20% from August, said by Guillermo Moreno, the Argentina Commercial Secretary, on 22nd August.
Moreno agreed to ease import due to the trade surplus up 26% cent on the same time last year, and he believes to ease the restriction will do good to the supply of necessary goods, as well as to drive down the price.
Moreno asked all supermarkets to offer their average import quantities in June and July, on which basis, another 20% import quantities be allowed. For example, if its 200 thousand US dollar average, then 240 thousand US dollar of imports be allowed in August.
"After several months' disorder, the restriction turns easing in the last half a month, which is reflected in the increase imports of the industry raw material and some consumer goods", said by an Argentina guildmaster Diego Santiseban, who believed that easing imports showed the government's noticement that decline in economic activities for a too severe control.
